The 2010 portion of the school year closed with a nice get together of my new Technology Dept. "family". It was a great time and much thanks to Secret Santa!
In the week before vacation, I was able to learn about a couple of excellent instances of teachers using technology to help students learn. Once again, it's the Science Dept. leading the way.
In one case, I installed a program on the Science lab computers for Dave Levy called Celestia. This is an awesome space simulation program that lets students interactively experience the universe in three dimensions. To learn more visit this site.
Nikki Cuoco, who also is always looking for new ways to engage her students, showed me a web-based program from the PBS website called DNA Workshop. The activity takes the students within the cell, involving them with the processes of DNA replication and protein synthesis. If you're interested, check it out here.
