For ELA teachers looking for a good online tool to be used in a blended setting, Quill provides some excellent activities to help students with their writing. Quill is a web-based tool that provides personalized, interactive writing lessons. There are even activities for ELL students.
While much of the activities are for younger students, there are high school level activities as well as middle school level that would provide refreshers about good writing. Using the teacher dashboard, teachers can pick activities built from 42 Common Core standards and view the results through a mastery-based system. Each activity takes about 10 minutes and students receive instant feedback on their work.
The program's instantaneous grading system helps teachers differentiate. Teachers are able to provide individualized instruction for students who most need help, while advanced students receive practice in more challenging material.
