Plickers

Last year when common planning teams came through for technology training, one of the ideas we discussed was student response systems, of which Kahoot was the most popular. Here, I will mention another, Plickers, which is a powerfully simple tool that lets teachers collect real-time formative assessment data without the need for student devices.

This free easy-to-use tool does require some answer cards for students to hold up but the teacher can collect all of the answers simply by scanning with his/her phone/tablet using an app. The app recognizes the cards and captures the answer that each student chose.

  1. Plickers is super cool- a good formative tool, even for an opening, where you are trying to identify gaps in the previous day's learning.
